The ILT was presented with the Innovation award; one of the six core values the project is embracing. Hercules Site Services alongside; VGC Group, Danny Sullivan Group and Reliable Contractors make up the ILT. The ILT is an innovative solution to delivering labour on major infrastructure projects and the first major project to trial this is the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement scheme. The scheme carefully selected the four companies during a thorough tender process to create the first “ILT”.

The ILT was described by the judges as “true innovators due to their challenging of the way our whole industry works. Not only are they embracing technology but are really changing behaviours and collaborative ways of working which is an industry first and game changing”.

Brusk Korkmaz, Managing Director, said: “The ILT is game changing for the construction industry and we are glad to be a part of such a collaborative and experienced team leading the initiative. We are all grateful for the opportunity and support to be involved in such a new idea on the UK’s biggest highways project. I would like to thank the whole team for working so hard in getting the idea off the ground and look forward to creating a model that will benefit the industry for the future.”

About the project

The A14 project is the largest U.K Highways job. Highways England are investing £1.5 billion to improve the A14 between Cambridge and Huntingdon. This will see 21 miles of this major route upgraded to three lanes in each direction, to vastly improve the journeys of over 85,000 vehicles a day. The A14 improvement scheme is managed by the A14 Integrated Delivery Team, a joint venture of Skanska, Costain and Balfour Beatty working on behalf of Highways England.
